Congratulations on the ‘2025 Korea–Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition’.

It’s a great honor, and I’m glad that we could invite Australian ceramic artists for the first time from the southern hemisphere.

Australia is one of the nations that has a strong relationship with Korea.

Korea and Australia have a long history of friendship and have maintained close ties.

Australia, especially as a combatant nation supporting the Korean War, sent 18,000 veterans to Korea and helped us maintain peace and develop democracy.

We need to uphold our alliance, and both peoples need to build more active partnerships and relations.

It’s a great honor for me that we can take this time to reaffirm our strong friendship through the ‘2025 Korea–Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition’.

Seoul Cyber University stands firm as a leader in online education with new technologies and hopes to play a leading role in online exhibitions.

I’m also glad that we have a chance to show the beauty of both ceramic arts and our amicable friendship to the world.

The relationship between our two nations will prosper in the future, and I hope we will have more active exchanges through ceramic art.

    Congratulatory Message
It’s a great honor for me to hold the ‘2025 Korea-Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition’.
Korea has had an amicable relationship with Australia for a long period of time.
Australian missionaries arrived in Korea in 1884 and helped the development of Korean society.
Australian veterans’ support of the Korean War was a critical help during Korea’s hardest times.
Australia is known as the most successful nation as a multicultural society.
Korea has been known as a single-race nation for a long time and has started to open the door to multicultural races and become a multicultural society.
Even in the future, I expect Korea and Australia to exchange good influences together and have intimate and amicable relationships.
Unique tradition and culture, warm emotions, peoples’ sense of art and rapid adoption of new technologies in Korea could be good influences not only to Australia but also to other countries.
It’s an important event that we may appreciate contemporary ceramic art of both nations through ‘2025 Korea-Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition’.
I hope we may share and develop both nations’ contemporary ceramic art which has grown from different cultures and societies.
I also wish both nations’ ceramists may have more active relationships in the future and devote to world peace.
I send my great appreciation to the representative of Australian Ceramic artist Ms. Avi Amesbury, IAC Council member representative For Oceania who organizes the Australian ceramic part and supports the exhibition with her beautiful art work and great leadership, participating all Australian Ceramic artists and Korean Ceramic artists. I also send my big applause to Seoul Cyber University for holding this exhibition for both nations’ ceramic artists.
    Congratulatory Message
The Korea-Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition celebrates the friendship between Australia and Korea, a relationship that dates back to the 1950s. We thank Seoul Cyber University and Professor Lee, Boo Yun for inviting us to participate in an exhibition that strengthens our friendship and promotes dialogue through cultural exchange.

Korea has a long tradition and history of pottery and has had a tremendous influence on international ceramics. As one of the beneficiaries of the study exchange agreement between The Australian National University and Hong-Ik University in Seoul, I spent four months immersed in Korean culture and tradition. It was an experience that has stayed with me – as I’m sure it has with anyone who has visited Korea for any length of time.

For us, the traditions of our First Nation peoples go back thousands of years, this is our culture and history, and many ceramic artists draw inspiration from this deep connection to country and the Australian landscape. With a recent history in studio ceramics Australian artists have explored techniques and cultural influences from around the world.

In a short time, ceramicists have created a uniquely Australian aesthetic and intellectual voice that has gained international recognition, and contributed to the global field of ceramics. The ceramicists exhibiting in the Korea-Australia Invitational Ceramic Exhibition are a small selection of the outstanding artists working in clay in Australia today, many of whom have been honoured at exhibitions, biennales and residencies in Korea.

Ceramics continues to be a powerful universal language. The exhibition is a valuable cultural exchange that will continue to stimulate interaction, foster understanding, and strengthen bilateral relations without the barrier of language.

I thank all the participating artists for their dedication to ceramics and the important role they play in cultural diplomacy.

I congratulate Seoul Cyber University and Professor Lee, Boo Yun, and their teams, for their leadership and commitment in fostering cross-cultural understanding and friendship.
